Medicine Refills

A New Policy

Beginning October 1, 2008, we will be charging to refill prescriptions by telephone.

This change is prompted by the extremely high number of prescription requests

Chronic medications are prescribed for chronic illnesses.

Chronic illnesses require regular followup.

In general, if you are running out of refills for a chronic medication, this is an indication that it is time for a recheck visit.

If we are refilling prescriptions by telephone, it means that the nurse or medical assistant is not available to help patients in the office,
or patients who have phoned with medical concerns.

It also means that the doctor or physician assistant has to take time away from patient care to authorize or write a prescription.

A fee of $10 will be imposed, beginning October 1, 2008, for prescription refills when the patient is not in the office

How To Avoid This Charge

Make an appointment. We will gladly refill prescriptions then, and there will be no charge for the refill.

We will write the prescription so that your refills will last until a month or so after your next visit is due.
